BEST OF BOTH WORLDS

Why choose between a home equity loan and a home equity line of credit (HELOC) when you can have the best of both? As members, you can leverage the equity built up in your home to finance major purchases, pay for home renovations, consolidate debt and reach your financial goals with Georgia United’s brand-new Combo HELOC.

It is designed to give you options and save you money in the long term. Our Combo HELOC can be used as a variable rate line of credit or you can lock in a portion with a fixed rate and fixed monthly payments. Choose the option that is right for you and decide how you want to use the funds.

The benefits of a Combo HELOC include:

Interest rates that are typically lower than a credit card or personal loan.
A variety of loan amounts available, from $10,000 to $500,000.
Ability to lock in a low, fixed rate.
Easy access through Online Banking.
Open-ended revolving line of credit that can be used for whatever you need.
More flexibility in term lengths.

GEORGIA'S BEST

A ringing endorsement of Georgia United’s commitment to member service and our communities, we were recently named 2022 Credit Union of the Year in Georgia by the League of Southeastern Credit Unions & Affiliates (LSCU), awarded at the Southeast Credit Union and Expo held June 14-16, in Orlando. Georgia United earned this award in the contest’s largest asset category - credit unions with more than $500 million in assets - beating out the best of the best. It is the second time Georgia United has captured this honor, previously selected as LSCU’s 2019 Credit Union of the Year in Georgia.

SHARED STRENGTH

We recently welcomed North Main Credit Union to the Georgia United family. In late June, members of the Cornelia-based credit union approved the merger by a majority vote. It became official July 1, and we are moving forward together as one legal entity, operating under the name of Georgia United Credit Union. The merger adds a new branch in Cornelia to Georgia United's network and on October 1 expands our field of membership to Habersham and Banks counties.

SKIP-A-PAY

If you are looking for a little more breathing room in your summer budget, consider Georgia United’s recently enhanced Skip-A-Pay program. For a $40 fee*, this program allows members to defer loan payments twice per calendar year and use the funds for other needs. Personal loans, auto loans, share secured loans, recreational vehicle loans (RVs, watercraft, motorcycles) and certificate secured loans are all eligible for Skip-A-Pay.

BOARD UPDATE

Three members of Georgia United’s volunteer Board of Directors were re-elected at the Annual Shareholders Meeting. Chairman Tom Dickson, Director Dr. Cindy Salloum and Audit Committee Chair Edwin Bell are serving new three-year terms. Our Board of Directors serve as member advocates and work closely with the credit union’s leadership team to set policy, monitor risk and guide the execution of the organization’s strategic plan. We are grateful for their service, guidance and commitment to improving the member experience.

COMMUNITY IMPACT

Here are a few recent highlights of how Georgia United is serving our community, including initiatives managed by our philanthropic arm, Georgia United Foundation.

DAY OF GIVING

Thank you for supporting Georgia United Foundation’s second annual Day of Giving on June 13. Through your generous donations, we can make meaningful impacts in the communities we serve. Our Day of Giving campaign had a goal of raising $7,500 and we doubled it by receiving $15,293 in donations to support the foundation’s primary programs. June 13 is a significant date because it is the anniversary of Georgia United Foundation being chartered as a 501 (c)(3) public charity. Although this year’s Day of Giving has closed, donations to the foundation can be made at any time.

GIVE. SAVE. SPEND.

Financial literacy for toddlers? Georgia United Business Development Officer Steve Overcash helped the DeKalb County Early Learning Center launch its new financial literacy program for the center’s approximate 200 pre-K students. "Give, save and spend. At this age, they can grasp this concept," he said. Georgia United also donated $2,500 to the program.

Your payment(s) will resume the following month. To be eligible, your account must be in good standing with a $5 minimum balance, no active bankruptcies, and have no charged off accounts. Offer valid for the following consumer loan products: personal loans and collateralized loans (excluding CURE and Indirect Auto Loans) that are current with no delinquency greater than 30 days in the last six months, open for more than 90 days and have three months of payment history. You may complete two skips per calendar year. This offer may be used for one of the following options: one monthly loan payment, two consecutive bi-weekly payments or four consecutive weekly loan payments. If there is GAP coverage on this loan and the vehicle becomes totaled, this skipped payment may not be covered under the GAP policy. It is your responsibility to cancel any scheduled payments from other financial institutions.
